Not a government office or records custodian. Fair Oaks Residents Directory is a private reference. We cannot obtain records, certify a copy, verify who is at an address, or change a government database. Direct those requests to the office holding the record. For an emergency, call 911. If someone is stalking or harassing you, contact local law enforcement.
Finding the Right Record
Use the route that matches the record rather than a general inquiry:
- Address, parcel, or current deed questions: use the Fair Oaks street directory and Fairfax County property and land-record channels.
- Older phone books, community directories, and household history: use the Fair Oaks city directory and the Virginia Room.
- A narrow name, court, vital, license, or organization question: use the Fair Oaks resident lookup.
- County office routing: consult the Fair Oaks records offices summary.
- Existing county administrative records: send a reasonably specific request through the Virginia Freedom of Information Act route.
Fairfax Circuit Court Clerk, Land Records Division: Suite 317, Fairfax County Courthouse, 4110 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA 22030. Phone 703-691-7320. Regular courthouse hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. weekdays; recordings are accepted until 3:00 p.m., with dropped documents accepted until 4:00 p.m. The office provides public computers and CPAN access, but staff can explain procedures rather than perform research.
Fairfax County FOIA: the county’s FOIA officer is Molly Shannon, FOIA@fairfaxcounty.gov, 703-324-7052. The county FOIA page directs requests to the subject agency. Court records use Clerk and court channels because a public-access route exists. For historical directory assistance, the Virginia Room can be reached at 703-293-6227 option 6 or va_room@fairfaxcounty.gov.
