Terms of Use

These terms apply to use of Fair Oaks Residents Directory. By using the service, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service or its links.

1. Nature of the Service

Fair Oaks Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public record sources, indexes, directories, and repositories relevant to Fair Oaks, Fairfax County, and Virginia. It does not host government files and is not affiliated with a government office, court, records custodian, or library.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these terms, source terms, and applicable law. Do not use information or links to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, impersonate, defraud, or harm any person. Do not attempt to bypass a protected address, sealed file, confidentiality program, access control, or records restriction.

3. Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Material available through Fair Oaks Residents Directory may not be used for credit, employment, tenant screening, insurance, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose. Do not treat a public index, dated directory entry, parcel display, or link as a consumer report.

4. Outside Resources

Linked resources are operated by their own custodians. Their terms, availability, fees, eligibility rules, privacy notices, and record restrictions govern their services. A link does not endorse a destination or guarantee that a record exists, is complete, or remains available.

5. No Warranties

The service is provided as available. We make no warranty about accuracy, completeness, timeliness, suitability, search results, source coverage, or uninterrupted access. Public records, fees, interfaces, and historical descriptions can change, contain errors, or have gaps.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fair Oaks Residents Directory and its operators are not liable for damages arising from use of, inability to use, reliance on, or access to the service or any linked resource. Verify a record with the custodian before relying on it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the service and its operators from claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your unlawful use, misuse of information, violation of these terms, or violation of another person’s rights.

8. Intellectual Property

The service’s original text, organization, and design are protected as applicable. Government records and third-party material may carry separate rights, terms, or copying limits. Do not reproduce third-party material beyond what law and the source permit.

9. Revisions to Terms

These terms may be updated to reflect legal, operational, or content changes. Continued use after a posted revision means acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Suspension of Access

We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe use is unlawful, abusive, unsafe, technically harmful, or inconsistent with these terms. This does not limit other remedies available by law.

11. Virginia Law

Virginia law governs these terms, except where another law controls. Virginia records access is subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code §§2.2-3700 through 2.2-3715, and special statutes for court, voter, vital, and protected-address records. The Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Va. Code Title 59.1, Chapter 53, may apply to qualifying consumer privacy rights.

12. Severability

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

13. Questions About Terms

Questions about these terms may be directed through the contact information associated with this service. Questions about a government record, correction, fee, eligibility rule, or certified copy should go to the agency, court, library, archive, or other custodian that holds it.
